History fact on Sutton Bridge
Did you know that somewhere around Sutton Bridge King John of England lost his crown jewels? 👑
Back in 12th century, King John of England was passing through Sutton Bridge and tide flooded the area so the horse drawn waggons could not handle the flood and all of the crown possesions were lost. Only a few man survived the accident.
King John died a week later from dysentery and throne was succeded by his 9 year old son, Henry III.
